Finepoint Broadcast Reports Successful Media Production Show

Finepoint Broadcast has reported a successful Media Production Show, with company attendees including Richard Baker and Laura Shackleton.

The Media Production Show was held at the London Olympia West event centre from 12-13 June.

Mr Baker, New Equipment Sales Manager, and marketing employee Ms Shackleton discussed the two-day show.

"The show reflected the fact that video and audio content producers are pushing the boundaries of technology with HDR formats such as HLG and increasing interest in virtual reality," Mr Baker said. "HDR at its best can deliver a jaw-dropping advance in quality. We also see growing interest in immersive audio. IP interconnectivity continues to grow in importance and already offers new ways of capturing content from remote venues via cost-efficient internet links. Whether IP will replace 12G has yet to be proved; most likely the two data formats will co-exist at least in the medium term.

"VR has the potential to extend television far beyond the current passive style into a truly immersive experience where viewers can decide for themselves which parts of a programme to concentrate on. It is already attracting serious attention both in the broadcast and independent production sectors based on viewing devices now being marketed for VR gaming. AI has similarly strong potential though as a production tool which should be invisible to the viewing audience. Its main value will be to allow a huge increase in creative efficiency for production teams of a given size."

"MPS very effectively meets the demand for a central London show focused on video, broadcast, production and post," added Ms Shackleton. "It follows the proven technique of offering free seminar presentations which are especially useful for newcomers to the industry. Olympia is within easy reach of the Soho-based media companies and visitors arriving from further afield. The show itself is a great place for networking and gives us the opportunity to see all our customers, colleagues and manufacturers.

"We met a lot of key people from the independent companies as well as senior managers from the broadcast networks. The show was supported by many of the major manufacturing brands including camera producers such as Blackmagic, Ikegami, JVC, Panasonic and Shaisrp and audio equipment companies such as Røde, Roland, Sennheiser and Yamaha."

The Media Production Show will return to London Olympia on 11-12 June 2019.
