Big Pic Media To Exhibit At Media Production Show
Big Pic Media has announced it is to exhibit a wide range of tools for ingest, QC, transcode, encode and delivery on stand 510 at the Media Production Show in London's Olympia exhibition centre, June 13-14.
"We have expanded our MPS stand space this year so that visitors can experience a complete workflow configuration based some of the world's most advanced technologies which we are able to offer globally," said BPM's UK based Managing Director Adam Welsh. "Big Pic Media partners with innovative product developers to provide flexible, efficient and powerful solutions."
OMG's Cubix will form the foundation of the demonstration, its elements being configurable to match multiple workflows. Cubix is a highly scalable media asset management, automation and orchestration platform comprising 27 modules which can be combined to match a wide range of deployments and applications. Features making their MPS debut include Biometrics, Cognitive Services and Timelines, Cubix Tracker & Reporting and Cubix Taskflow Designer.
The workflow demonstration starts with ingest which can be from any media source file, film or tape. Big Pic Media will be using the Filmfabriek HDS+ film scanner at MPS. This incorporates frictionless XL archival rollers for 8/16/9.5 mm Pathé formats to digitise damaged, brittle or otherwise lost celluloid archives; real-time auto LED-leveling implementing the full dynamic range of the sensor to give lower noise and more detail in the shadow areas; motionless tension controllers; 8 mm magnetic sound head (16 mm optical and magnetic also available); low noise external amplifier; and a reversal film scanning mode.
Big Pic Media will also demonstrate mastering workflows from Marquise Technologies including MIST (Mastering, Ingest, Stream, Transcode). "MIST is ideal for IMF mastering for Netflix and major studios and now has full support for HDR workflows including Dolby Vision and HDR 10+," Adam Welsh details. "MIST can also be used for DCP, DPP and many other delivery requirements. If you need to increase your capacity for mastering, we now have the TORNADO API-controlled engine for transcode and encode. Each graphics processor can operate at up to 140 frames per second."
Finally from Marquise Technologies Big Pic Media will be showing the ICE QC reference player for IMF and DCP QC in particular with full support for the media and metadata including package validation plus again full support for Dolby Vision and the Film Fabriek HDR 10+ film scanner. The software includes measurement tools for picture and sound and now includes a zebra pattern for out-of-gamut colour.
In addition to an image QC process, the Big Pic Media demonstration will be supported by the latest Emotion Systems' Engine to check for loudness compliance, normalising files for playout to Dolby encoding and automated audio processing. Version 7 performs audio processing for content preparation, distribution, and delivery. Automating repetitive tasks, it gives production staff the time to be creative again. New for this version are loudness processing, stream processing, file wrapping, audio channel add/remove and language tagging.
