CARLTON BROADCASTING SCOOP FIVE RTS AWARDS

CARLTON Broadcasting, West Country Region picked up five awards at the 2001 Royal Television Society Annual Programme Awards for Devon and Cornwall.
Carlton's Ron Bendell won Regional Reporter of the Year and in the craft section, awards went to editor Stuart Cooper for Feature Picture Editing and the Carlton Graphic Design Team for Graphic Design.
‘Water Warriors’, an in-house Carlton production produced by Emma Williams took the award for Best Regional Leisure and Entertainment Programme. Presented by Jamie Rickers, the five-part children's environmental series explored the West Country's estuaries, rivers and ponds.
Best Current Affairs Programme went to ‘How Green Is Our Valley?’ an in-house Carlton production, it followed the complex planning applications for new homes that divided the local population of Moretonhampstead in Devon. It was presented by Tony Robinson, directed by Dermot O'Donovan and produced by Mary Hardiman Jones. (CD)
