The winners of this year's Royal Television Society (RTS) NI Programme Awards 2016 have been announced. The event was delivered in association with Performance Film and Media Insurance.

Those honoured on the night included Sports Personality Of The Year (BBC Sport), The Commute (Waddell Media), and Stephen Stewart from Green Inc Film and Television, who received an RTS NI Judges Award for his outstanding contribution to Northern Ireland's production sector.

Around 200 people attended the event, hosted by Adrian Chiles. Coleraine-born actress Bronagh Waugh was also on hand as guest presenter for the International Production award.

Steve Carson, RTS NI Chair, and Head of BBC Northern Ireland Productions, said: "This year's programme awards have been an outstanding success and we're extremely heartened to see the quality being produced in Northern Ireland. My thanks to the judging panel who had a tough job working through almost 70 entry submissions over the past 12 weeks. We're all looking forward now to a stronger, enhanced awards programme in 2017."
