UEFA To Launch Film Inspiring Young Women To Play Football

UEFA is set to launch a new film, Play Anywhere, to inspire young women to play football and launch the next generation of female football players.

UEFA, along with Red Earth Studio, produced the film featuring Liv Cooke, who is the current freestyle football world champion, along with female football superstars like Fran Kirby and Ada Hegerberg.

It was filmed in 13 locations in five different countries during a 12 day period. The film is set to transport the viewer to scenes in urban London, war-torn buildings in Dubrovnik, the landscapes of the Outer Hebrides, and a stadium on a tiny island in Norway.

Play Anywhere's co-director and DOP, Adam Docker, commented: "We have created a film to work equally well on a big screen as the mobile screen. We wanted to create a feast for the eyes that you can’t stop watching, injecting humanity and humour whilst making the most of amazing talent in beautiful locations."

The film projects the message that football is for everyone, anywhere, and comes as an evolution of UEFA's We Play Strong campaign.

UEFA stated: "Play Anywhere provides UEFA with an additional platform to promote its first ever pan-European campaign, Together #WePlayStrong, which is an integral part of its five-year strategic plan to make football the number one sport for girls and women in countries across Europe."

"UEFA's ambition for how the game can attract more girls to play involves raising the profile and image of the game, increasing visibility and engagement, driving participation at grassroots level and increasing investment."

The film will be primarily promoted online via social channels as well as being provided to broadcasters of UEFA women's football.
