SKILLSET INFORMATION DAYS HAILED A SUCCESS
THE recent Media Careers Information Days which Skillset sponsors and attends have been a massive success with approximately 15,000 people attending the four events in November.
For the first time an event was held in London and over 5000 people attended. Events were also held in Belfast, Southampton and Sheffield throughout November.
The media industry joins together to organise these events in conjunction with a local university to offer information and advice on how to get a career in the media industry or how to progress further. They are not recruitment fairs however. Other key sponsors include the BBC, The Guardian, Channel 4, Channel 5 and the regional ITV companies.
The days are made up of numerous presentations from industry professionals, `in-conversation` sessions with stars, an exhibition area and chances to have a go at activities such as sports commentary, hair and make up or news reading. (CD)
