Union recommends new Granada pay deal
Bectu negotiators have urged union members across Granada's ITV empire to accept a new pay offer.
In a bid to avert industrial action, Granada have increased their basic pay rise, and added more shares to an allocation offered to staff.
An extra 0.25% will be added to a controversial 2% increase, which was imposed by the company without union agreement, and further pay talks have been promised, with a new anniversary date of January.
Staff will also receive an extra 125 Granada shares, worth almost £150, on top of a tranche already promised by the company as part of an earlier, rejected, pay offer.
The revised offer came after a threat of industrial action, following the company's decision to impose the 2% rise.
Union representatives involved in the pay talks have told members that the new offer is the best that can be achieved without industrial action.
Bectu's ballot closes on January 12, and the other unions at Granada, NUJ and Amicus, are due to ballot on a similar timetable.
