Egripment Presents The Telescoping Xtreme T10 Crane

News Image
Egripment Support Systems, manufacturer of high-end camera support systems and remote broadcast solutions for the film and broadcast industries, is presenting its New Carbon Fiber Telescoping Xtreme T10 Crane.

Telescoping Xtreme T10 Crane
Ready for Virtual Sets and Augmented operation
The Xtreme T10 exists out of our use of laid up Carbon Fiber technology, along with cold-drawn, Rolled Carbon Bearing steel. This enabled Egripment to create a lightweight, fast action, and incredibly smooth crane operation, designed around the need for precise and smooth operation for Augmented and Virtual Reality for the broadcast and cinema.

Telescoping Crane with ARC Compensation
Rather than first building a crane, then deciding how to make it work for this fast growing segment of the Broadcast and Film industry, we engineered the Xtreme T10 directly toward AR / VR utilization. However, because of the ease of use designed into every Egripment product, the Xtreme T10 is also completely suitable for conventional Telescoping Crane use with the innovative ARC Compensation. The ARC Compensation adds functionality for automated moves including vertical straight lines, horizontal plane and pan compensation. Please feel free to contact us in case you require further technical information about this subject.

TDT Crane – One man operation
Our well-known TDT Crane system has new added functionality for use in AR/VR environments. Features include the “Surveyor|Ray Locator Software” and a "FBX plug-in", which are available as add-ons, in case you already own one of our Encoded TDT Crane Systems.

For many studios the calibrated crane is standing at a fixed position in the green or blue box, but these days studios are used for different types of formats and programs, requiring different positions for the crane and its dolly. This would result in an offset of the studio setup at the rendering machines.

Recalibration is time consuming and requires special skills for the end user. Egripment offers an add-on, called Surveyor Offset Kit. The kit offers a software and hardware upgrade to new and existing encoded systems. The hardware, a special laser pointer bracket, mounted to the front of the crane or jib arm helps the end user to point to previously established and measured reference points in the studio. As these reference points and their absolute coordinates are known by the Surveyor software, installed in the Egripment tracking interface, the end user simply has to point to at least five of these reference points. Once these steps are done, the software generates a new offset and sends the tracking data with the new studio offset to the rendering machines. No special skills of the studio crew are needed, simply point the crane or jib arm and push “Take”, making it simple and cost effective for daily use.

Additional to sending the tracking data live to third party rendering machines (ORAD, VIZRT, Brainstorm, etc.), the FBX Plug-in offers you to ability to record the tracking data to an Autodesk Maya & Motion Builder readable FBX file. The Record/Stop button, available on the Touch screen of the interface gives you a user friendly ability to record and stop your tracked move. Once the tracking stream is recorded, the FBX file is in the network and available via FTP Server of the Tracking interface, ensuring simple and easy workflow on the set.

Remote Heads
Egripment announces a complete new line of Remote Heads for both the smaller size box cameras, ENG handheld cameras and digital cinema cameras. This has resulted in our 106, 205, 301 and 306 Remote Camera Heads.

The 106 Head was introduced during the IBC and is the smallest among the remote controlled camera Heads. In combination with the latest 1-chip HD video cameras, the 106 Head is unique. The 106 Head offers variable speed controls that can pan and tilt a full 360 degrees in speeds ranging from 2.5 seconds to 17 minutes. The 106 Head is the ideal remote head for sports events, rock/pop concerts, scaled sets and at locations which are dangerous for a cameraman.

The heads can be delivered as a stand-alone system for direct control of the remote head, using various controls options such as our joysticks, PanBar Control and Crank wheels making them suitable for live productions such as sports, concerts, shows, drama, commercials and film shootings.

The more sophisticated digital version of these heads is leading for our remote broadcast solutions. Based on an IP platform they are part of a network and can be used simultaneously by one or multiple controllers. Adding extra functionality such presets, moves and recordings can be easily achieved through our touch panel. Ideal for use in news studios where automation is required. Easy to use for programmable shots in combination with our G-track dolly and Starcam Telescoping Column.

407 Egripment Slider
The Egripment Slider is portable, easy to set up and comes completely mounted on its track, packed in a Pelicase. The lightweight aluminum pack track of 1.2mtr/4ft is equipped with levelling feet and can be extended to longer lengths, when needed. The crossbars of the track offer different mounting options to be used in combination with your tripod 100mm or 150mm, lighting stand with 28mm spigot or monopods 1/4" and 3/8".

The Egripment Slider is ideal for camera packages up to 20kg/44lbs and can be used in over- and under sling configurations. The Egripment wheels are adjustable and specially manufactured for precision and endurance, providing a solid base for optimum shock-free, smooth movements.
