ITV Announces New Consumer Series

News Image
ITV has announced details of a new three-part series, How To Spend It Well At Christmas (W/T).

The consumer series will be hosted by Phillip Schofield and the episodes will see him joined by celebrity guests, experts and members of the public as they test the latest 'must-have' gifts this Christmas.

Segments will include what to buy for those hard-to-please relatives, whether its a partner or the in-laws, to whether this year's top-selling toy is actually worth the money. There will also be guidance on the best festive food to put on the table this December.

Each product to feature will undergo a series of tests with the aim of finding out which is the best quality, and which represents the best value for money. Product testers will include Phillip along with famous faces and experts, as well as members of the public, ranging from eight to 80 years of age.

Made by RDF, a Banijay UK company, How To Spend It Well At Christmas aims to be the ultimate consumer guide to Christmas spending by helping viewers navigate through their festive shopping dilemmas. The series will air later this year. The executive producers are Dan Barraclough and Jim Allen for RDF, and it has been commissioned by Priya Singh for ITV.

Dan Barraclough, Executive Producer, RDF, said: "Christmas shopping is confusing at the best of times – with frantic shops, sudden sales, and presents for ageing aunts to think about. We loved the idea of creating a show which helps viewers see through the fog of bewilderment that the festive season can bring on. Phillip Schofield is the perfect presenter to cut through the confusion and help consumers see clearly."

Priya Singh, Commissioning Editor, Factual for ITV, added: "Everyone wants to have the best Christmas ever, and ideally without going broke in the process. This new series aims to provide an essential and informative guide to help viewers decide what to spend their hard-earned cash on this Christmas. We're delighted to have Phillip as our host of what will be an inspiring and entertaining series which will hopefully help towards creating wonderful Christmases all across Britain."
