E4 Welcomes Young Sheldon To Its Schedule

Channel 4 has announced that it is to become home to the new series Young Sheldon.

The series is a prequel to hit US sitcom The Big Bang theory and will follow nine-year-old Sheldon Cooper as he tries to be understood by his family, classmates and neighbours.

It isn't easy growing up in East Texas for young Sheldon. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn't always helpful in a land where church and football are king. As the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naïve, Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him.

The 13x30 series will air on E4 in 2018 and stars Iain Armitage, Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Annie Potts, Montana Jordan and Raegan Revord. Jim Parsons, who stars as Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory, narrates as Adult Sheldon.

Young Sheldon is created by Chuck Lorre & Steven Molaro. The executive producers are Lorre, Molaro, Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak. The first episode was directed and executive produced by Jon Favreau.
