Fountain Studios Auction Raises Over £670,000
It has been revealed that an online auction of production and broadcast equipment from the former Fountain Studios has raised more than £670,000.
Over 450 bidders registered for the sale, which was organised by auctioneers Charterfields on behalf of Fountain Television.
Among the range of sound, lighting and camera equipment, a Calrec Apollo 72 fader digital audio console item led to the highest winning bid – in excess of £85,000.
Based in London, Fountain Studios closed its doors in December 2016. Over the years, it has been home to a number of successful programmes including On The Buses, Upstairs Downstairs, and Britain's Got Talent.
Ian Maycock, Director of Charterfields, said: "We had more than 100 bidders attend the two viewing days as this was seen as a unique opportunity to acquire the highest specification technical equipment. There was also strong interest in the catering equipment and furniture from the numerous hospitality rooms which brought to a close the long and illustrious location in British television history."
The only remaining items are a number of bottles of champagne and wine signed – among others – by Simon Cowell, Ant & Dec, Louis Walsh, Tom Jones, Sharon Osbourne, Tony Bennett & Pink. These will be sold by Charterfields via an online auction during April.
Further details can be found by visiting www.charterfields.com and by joining the asset sales mailing list.
