RT Software To Demonstrate IP-Based Solutions At BVE
RT Software (RTSW) has said it will use the BVE and NAB shows as an opportunity to discuss emerging technology and challenges in the real-time graphics sector of the broadcast market.
Always an innovator, RTSW will be able to show solutions for IP based production, virtualised graphics services, 4K 10-bit colour, HDR support in graphics and distributable web-based solutions.
Mike Fredriksen, RTSW Commercial Director, said: "I believe we were first to air with live 4K graphics in Europe. We supported a major UK broadcaster with early trials and then went to air providing graphics for their 4K channel in 2015.
"Initially this was an 8-bit colour based solution, but that was soon replaced by a true 10-bit solution – crucial for quality when the playout video is routed through our system. Graphics solutions from RTSW are in fact floating-point based now, guaranteeing support for emerging standards and technologies such as High Dynamic Range (HDR) plus 8K & 16K resolutions."
IP based production is gaining traction and RTSW offers solutions incorporating the Newtek NDI standard. An interesting option here is to combine support for IP based production on a unique 2D graphics platform.
Fredriksen continued: "2D is interesting. We started out with 3D graphics back in 2004 and have only recently introduced a dedicated 2D graphics authoring environment. Its key benefits are an ease of use simply not possible with a 3D based system, along with a low price point that fits nicely with many IP based projects."
Virtualised cloud based solutions are on the agenda at large playout centres and again RTSW leads the way. The graphics servers can be virtualised with many instances running on a single server. This provides a solution that can be scaled rapidly, easily and cost effectively. Command and control can be via third party systems such as automation solutions, or manually via RTSW's new, distributable web based operator interface.
"This is a new paradigm for graphics resources," Fredriksen concluded. "It allows traditionally locked away and inaccessible resources at a playout centre to now be used for live productions – giving customers a significantly improved ROI."
Enhancing sports productions with video based game play analysis is a core area of RTSW's operations and a new version of the popular tOG-Sports telestration system will be on show at both BVE and NAB.
Key new features alongside a wealth of new graphical analysis tools are the forthcoming Mac release and support for the S-A-M Livetouch replay server.
RTSW is also delighted to announce a completely new product range, providing solutions for video walls allowing up to sixteen 4K outputs from one graphics rendering workstation.
