BBC Four Welcomes Return Of 'Pop Quiz'
BBC Four has confirmed it is to bring back 80s programme Pop Quiz for two special episodes.
Pop Quiz: The Comeback will celebrate 80s pop music and will be hosted by original presenter Mike Read. Each episode will see two teams – consisting of 80s pop stars – go against each other.
Guests include Andy McCluskey (OMD), Carol Decker (T'Pau), Cheryl Baker (Bucks Fizz), David Grant (Linx), Jay Aston (Bucks Fizz), Leee John (Imagination), Mari Wilson (Imagination), Nick Heyward (Haircut 100), Ranking Roger (The Beat), Steve Norman (Spandau Ballet), Tom Bailey (Thompson Twins) and Toyah Willcox.
Mike Read said: "I'm delighted to be working with a great BBC team to bring back the classic TV series Pop Quiz. Once again the brows of the famous will be furrowed, lips pursed and eyes narrowed as we test their music knowledge, watch some great classic footage and have some fun along the way."
Cassian Harrison, Channel Editor, BBC Four, added: "BBC Four is the home of popular music on BBC television and it's fabulous to bring back one of our greatest and most popular music quiz shows for a very special Christmas treat."
Sohail Shah, Commissioner, BBC Entertainment commented: "Pop Quiz was a musical highlight for viewers every week. It's great to bring it back for a new generation, and with its original host, the brilliant Mike Read."
Pop Quiz: The Comeback is executive produced by Mark Cooper and Ed de Burgh, and commissioned by Sohail Shah and Cassian Harrison.
The programmes will be recording in MediaCityUK in Salford in mid-December, with the first episode airing at 9.30pm on Wednesday, 28 December on BBC Four.
