Timeline Supports BBC's Arctic Live

Timeline Television has provided RF facilities for the new series of Arctic Live on BBC Two. The show, which commenced on Tuesday 1 November, is a three-part series looking at Earth's last undiscovered wilderness.

From the edge of the Canadian Arctic, presenters Kate Humble, Simon Reeve and Gordon Buchanan will be on the shores of Hudson Bay. Gordon, who is an award-winning wildlife cameraman will explore what it is like to live in the town of Churchill – where the world's largest living land carnivore is on the residents' doorstep.

Timeline Television is providing flyaway production facilities, radio cameras and presentation facilities on two large 4WD Tundra Buggies that will act as mobile camera platforms; one carries the presentation team and the other will be used to track some of the remote Arctic wildlife.

The camera feeds from the buggies will be IP wireless, linked using H265 technology, over 20km back to the main site in Churchill where Timeline will be providing production facilities. In addition, COFDM links carry camera video feeds over the same path. The main production gallery is equipped with the company's matrix, vision control, video server and control of remote switching on the buggy over the RF data link. Timeline is also delivering the satellite uplink for the live broadcasts to BBC viewers back in the UK.

Arctic Live airs on BBC Two from Tuesday, 1 November.
