Gearhouse Broadcast contracted for Tennis Masters Cup facilities

Gearhouse Broadcast have been contracted to provide the technical facilities for the prestigious Tennis Masters Cup, to be held in Houston, Texas from November 10 – 16 2003.
This complements the existing contract that saw them win a four-year deal between 2000-2004 to provide technical and production facilities for the nine Tennis Master Series events that run throughout each year.
The company provides a unique, modular fly-away system for the events - state-of-the-art digital rigs consisting of video, audio, monitor, CCU and communications systems housed in cabins installed on site. This method enables a consistent layout and set up to occur in each venue, with room for any last minute changes if necessary.
Gearhouse Broadcast and client Tennis Properties Limited will be working closely to ensure the success of this live broadcast to television viewers around the world.
The stadium will have 13 camera coverage, for the host broadcast incorporating the Thomson LDK-23 supermotion systems and Sony BVP-950 cameras, six EVS hard disk recorder machines, numerous industry standard digi beta A500 tape machines and a jimmy jib. There will also be an additional two control rooms, one for ESPN ‘add-on’ and one for the World Feed ‘add-on.
The unilateral ‘add-on’ facilities will be provided for ESPN in the USA, incorporating the same facilities, crew and level of consistency as provided on previous North American TMS tournaments this year.
Full linear editing facilities will be provided for ESPN, TPL Newsfeed and other broadcasters onsite. The edit suite will consist of a Sony DVS-2000 vision switcher, Sony BVE-2000 edit controller and Sony DME-7000 digital video effects.
The audio set up will consist of two Soundcraft B800 broadcast consoles. A number of radio microphones channels have been pre-prepared in the UK and will then be shipped out, these include the Sennheiser SK5012 bodypacks and SKM5000 handheld transmitters.
All of the action from the Tennis Masters Cup will be broadcast extensively by major broadcasters, including Eurosport, ESPN and ESPN International, Fox Sports (Australia), SporTV (Brazil) and CCTV (China), to more than 161 countries in all corners of the world.
