The Audio Suite complete 'For Valour' sound design

'For Valour', a peak-time, one-hour dramatised documentary to be shown on BBC2 this autumn, has been sound-designed and mixed in Dolby Surround Sound by Neil Hillman, MPSE at The Audio Suite.
Presented and written by Jeremy Clarkson, 'For Valour' details the history of The Victoria Cross and documents some of the incredible feats of courage shown by winners of the UK's most prestigious award for bravery. Original black and white silent footage has had authentic sounds carefully added, in addition to the detailed sound design work undertaken for the substantial and accurate re-enactment scenes of the programme.
"The quality of the picture editing was superb for conveying a sense of involvement in some of these campaigns, battles and individual skirmishes," said Audio Suite Managing Director, Neil Hillman. "We needed to create and mix a soundtrack that would arouse similar emotion's to those experienced by audiences for 'Saving Private Ryan', yet without overshadowing the most important part of the programme, which is Jeremy's narrative".
Produced for the BBC by Chrysalis Entertainment, this is the third recent documentary collaboration between The Audio Suite and the successful independent, following on from 'The Cars of James Bond', the TV tie-in with the launch of the movie 'Die Another Day', and 'The Greatest Cars in the World'.
Both of these one-hour Dolby Surround Sound specials were broadcast in the UK by Channel 5.
'For Valour' is to be shown on BBC2 on Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at 9pm.
