Sennheiser launch Neumann broadcast microphone at SBES

Sennheiser UK will launch the new Neumann BCM 104 broadcast microphone at the 28th Sound Broadcasting Equipment Show at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre, Platinum Suite, Docklands, London, on November 26 and 27 2003 (Stand 19).
In collaboration with professional audio sales specialist Autograph Sales, Sennheiser will be exhibiting an extensive range of Neumann and Sennheiser products at SBES. These will include the award winning Neumann-capsuled Sennheiser SKM 5000N handheld transmitter, MKE Platinum miniature clip microphone, industry leading wireless microphone and IEM technology and headphone and headset ranges.
The Neumann BCM 104 -the first in the new Broadcast Line series - is a transformerless, large diaphragm, cardioid, condenser microphone, tailored to the demands of professional radio broadcast. The K 104 capsule provides a flat frequency response up to 3 kHz, with a maximum 2 dB presence lift at higher frequencies, achieved acoustically without incurring phase distortions. Transient response and acoustic transparency are exemplary.
The advanced, functionally optimised design of the BCM 104 was developed using a system of 3D simulations, enabling Neumann’s designers to address head movement and proximity issues with greater accuracy than ever before. Internal switches are provided to enable both a proximity effect compensation filter, with12 dB/ octave attenuation below 100 Hz, and pre-attenuation of –14 dB, reducing sensitivity to levels compatible with circuits designed for dynamic microphones. The BCM 104 microphone mount can be suspended from a standard studio boom arm and an optional swivel mount allows the microphone to be angled by + 90º. Both the microphone in its mount and the capsule are elastically suspended to protect against structure borne noise.
A fine gauze pop screen is frame mounted in the capsule assembly. The removable headgrille enables cleaning of the pop screen (which also serves to keep the diaphragm clean) and colour coded grilles are available, allowing presenters their individual grille for further hygiene.
