Ross Video Unveils Acid Camera System

News Image
The high spec Acid Camera systems set a new standard for finely etched imagery. They have been designed by Ross for a heightened visual experience that enhances and improves the creative control of production looks, with emphasis on virtual environments.

These new cameras provide the very best image compositing from chroma key sets using advanced patent pending technology, but also capture astonishing images in any environment.

Acid Cameras include a unique new signal format developed by Ross to overcome the difficulties of creating good chroma keys. These cameras output standard SMPTE 4:2:2 video signals for use in any production, but in addition output a special 0:4:4 full bandwidth color signal that is combined with the primary output within the Carbonite UltrachromeHR system to generate a full resolution 4:4:4 signal, perfect for developing high resolution key edges.

The Acid H200 has the highest resolution and performance specification of any 1080P camera system from any manufacturer. The Acid Z50 is a moderately priced performer for slightly less demanding applications and fits well into mid range production systems. It teams up perfectly with Ross camera robotics for higher end legislative, corporate, and house of worship applications.

Like all Ross products, Acid Cameras embrace DashBoard control. All camera operation, setup and shading can be performed from DashBoard panels including the transfer and recall of scene files from one Acid Camera to another. Acid Cameras are a perfect match with Ross Robotics or traditional manual operation with typical studio accessories. Acid Cameras are game changers and Ross is the company who is changing the game.

For studios using Acid to also do virtual productions, Carbonite UltrachromeHR is a stand-alone chroma key system based on the Carbonite Black production platform, with a multichannel chroma key processor designed to meet the challenging key requirements of multi-camera virtual environments. It incorporates patented and patent pending signal processing technologies designed to generate high-resolution key edges from chroma channel information.

While this chroma key system produces spectacular results from standard HD-SDI video inputs, the subtle refinements of key edges are greatly improved when used in combination with Acid Camera systems. Carbonite UltrachromeHR takes the 4:2:2 and 0:4:4 camera signals from Acid Cameras and internally combines them to generate full bandwidth, high-resolution key edges that are simply not possible from standard video inputs.

Ultrachrome HR also uses standard 4:2:2 camera inputs, and outputs standard HD-SDI 4:2:2 signals in all cases including when performing the 4:4:4 chroma keying for superior virtual sets using Acid Cameras.

Carbonite UltrachromeHR includes up to four high-resolution chroma keyers, each with full control of delay management, fill color temperature for scene matching, foreground key and fill, internal storage for animated graphics, and much more.

Acid Cameras produce spectacular video images in various studio productions including the ability to dramatically improve chroma key quality for weather and virtual set production. Acid Cameras and Carbonite UltrachromeHR chroma key systems are important components of total studio production solutions from Ross Video including production switchers, motion graphics, robotics, and infrastructure.
