C4 win rights to screen British Rally Championship

Channel Four Television have been awarded the rights to screen the seven qualifying rounds of this year’s Pirelli British Rally Championship (BRC).
Channel Four will devote a half-hour programme on the qualifying rounds on the Saturday of the week following each event, with the exception of the Scottish and Manx International rallies. Due to existing scheduling commitments, these will be shown a fortnight later.
There will also be an hour-long season’s review that has been pencilled in for November, and a possible preview programme is currently under discussion.
Deborah Tolson, Channel 4’s deputy editor of sport said: “We’re very pleased to be involved with the BRC, which is a fantastic proving ground for British drivers.
“This is continuing evidence of Channel 4’s commitment to motor sport, and a valuable addition to our Saturday morning sports output.”
BRC manager Mark Taylor said: “Terrestrial television coverage is essential to the promotion of any major sporting event these days. The BRC coverage will fit in very well with C4’s current World Rally Championship (WRC) programming, and we want to capitalise on everyone’s determination to promote rallying as a spectacular and exciting sport to a wider audience."
The coverage production will be by the Isle of Man-based Greenlight Television.
