Brown Bag Films choose Media 100 844/X

Academy Award nominee Brown Bag Films have installed an 844/X from Media 100 and completed their first project on the real-time, online vertical editing system.
With an international client base, Brown Bag Films specialise in producing intricate 3D character animation for commercials and television programmes.
Brown Bag Films chose 844/X because of its real-time compositing speed, flexibility and the native 10-bit image quality it delivers. Cathal Gaffney, producer at Dublin's Brown Bag Films, said: "Since being nominated for an Academy Award last year, Brown Bag's talent has been in great demand. Taking on more projects is fantastic, but means we find ourselves spending enormous amounts of time in post-production suites for laybacks, onlines and basic composites. Now with our investment in 844/X we've slashed post time and have effectively become our own post company producing online transmission tapes for broadcast entirely in-house. In an increasingly cost sensitive market, this investment has proven to be very worthwhile."
Brian Gilmore, Facilities Manager at Brown Bag Films, added: "We needed a system that was going to provide stunning uncompressed image quality for both compositing and finishing. We looked at a number of solutions on the market including Avid Adrenaline, but 844/X with its 10-bit architecture best suited our needs. We constantly need to push our content even further with multiple layers of blurs and blends, and had experienced banding problems in doing this with our previous Avid system. Our new 844/X simply delivers the best-looking pictures we've ever seen."
