MRMC introduce Ulti-Head motion control system
Mark Roberts Motion Control have launched Ulti-Head, a new high-stability pan/tilt remote head for motion control.
Designed for use in the studio or on location, it combines rugged construction with compact dimensions (511 x 243 x 234 mm HWD). Ulti-Head can be mounted on a crane, tripod or Panther dolly and powered from a 24 V battery.
Control options include MRMC Grip-Sticks, handwheels or remote joysticks. Fully repeatable movement, storage and replay can be accomplished using MRMC's Flair software and electronic hardware.
Flair's user-friendly graphic interface enables an operator to pre-visualise each move graphically and numerically before committing to the action run. Camera move data can be exchanged in CGI format with image creation software from companies such as Alias and Softimage. Easy to set up and operate, Ulti-Head is based on the skills deployed in the development of MRMC's Academy Award winning Milo motion control rig. A wide range of industry-standard film cameras and video camcorders can be accommodated. The lens and camera axes are controlled, programmed and repeatable via the software.
Graham Guenigault, MRMC's Sales & Marketing Manager, said: "Ulti-Head dramatically reduces the cost of repeatable camera control. The high-stability platform has been designed to support heavyweight film cameras that are especially suited to motion control filming as well as being perfectly matched to the new generation of high definition digital video cameras. The ability to operate on battery power adds enormously to Ulti-Head's creative potential and will be appreciated by producers working on location."
