Increased Orders For Custom Consoles

News Image
Custom Consoles has reported a significant increase in demand for studio furniture, with new orders placed from customers in the broadcast and media publishing sectors.

The orders follow a successful CABSAT 2016 for the company, where its MediaPost portable monitor mount made its debut in the Middle East market.

Graham Buchanan, Business Director, Custom Consoles, said: "Confidence throughout the broadcast media industry is at an all-time high. Most of the orders we are seeing are from established networks investing in technical upgrades or expansion of existing infrastructure rather than new-builds. One of the largest is for 40 desks which have been commissioned by a major broadcast systems integrator on the European mainland. We are not at liberty to name the client yet but this contract alone amounts to some 150 metres length of Module-R.

"One of the UK's largest television production facilities has ordered Custom Consoles desks plus MediaWall monitor display mounts for a dual-studio project which is scheduled to complete before October. The client already has our Module-R desks, tailored to accommodate its specific requirements, and MediaWalls. We are also installing a Module-R desk and MediaWall for a television channel run by a major UK publishing house.

"These projects follow on from the recent completion of three Module-R technical control desks plus a MediaWall for one of Europe's busiest financial trading houses where they will be used to create news and comment for broadcasters around the world."

Mr Buchanan continued: "It is perhaps stretching a point to describe CERN as a broadcaster though its pioneering research continues to be the subject of many television and radio programmes. But CERN too puts its trust in Custom Consoles technical control furniture. We recently completed a large installation of our ultra-robust SteelBase desks for the CERN Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) experiment at the experimental site on the Franco-Swiss border.

"The CERN contract included the design and installation of desks for the LHCb main control room and the LHC cryogenics control room on site. Largest of the two suites is the main control room. This has been equipped with an 8.85 metre wide oval-shaped SteelBase central control desk with 19 desk bays. Each bay incorporates three monitor display mounts (two in front, one overhead). Low-level storage units for computer equipment are incorporated at the mid-left section of the desk.

"Our focus now is on the IBC exhibition in Amsterdam where we will be promoting examples of our established product range including Module-R, the EditOne flat-packable desk plus the recently introduced MediaPost."
