Filming Begins For 'Death In Paradise'
Filming has commenced on the latest series of crime drama Death In Paradise.
The series, which airs on BBC One, is set on the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie and is filmed in Guadeloupe. However, for this sixth series, the show will be filmed in London for the first time in a two-part special.
The eight-part series sees the return of Saint Marie's police team, headed up by DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall), alongside DS Florence Cassell (Josephine Jobert), Office Dwayne Myers (Danny John-Jules) and Officer JP Hooper (Tobi Bakare), while Sally Bretton has been named as a series regular, reprising her role as Martha Lloyd. In each episode, the team will use their skills of deduction to solve more mysterious and murders that occur on the island.
Tim Key, Executive Producer, said: "We are very excited to be bringing Death In Paradise to London for the very first time. Humphrey has always been a fish out of water in Saint Marie, adjusting to the island's ways and customs, but for the scenes set in London, the roles are reversed as he is back in his hometown, giving an opportunity to explore the characters that viewers know and love against a new backdrop."
Elizabeth Kilgarriff, BBC Commissioning Editor and Executive Producer, said: "Death In Paradise provides the perfect combination of drama, comedy and sun to warm viewers over the cold winter months. The show continues to attract a wealth of great talent to join the cast, and we are delighted to announce these new guest stars for the sixth series."
Death In Paradise is a Red Planet Pictures production in association with BBC Worldwide, produced with the support of the region of Guadeloupe. It is created by Robert Thorogood, produced by Sue Howells and executive produced by Tony Jordan and Tim Key for Red Planet Pictures, and Elizabeth Kilgarriff for the BBC. The new series will air in 2017.
