Aerialworx: On Set With The ALEXA Mini

News Image
Set in the Highlands of Scotland, a horror film directed by director Gary Love and starring Sheila Hancock, tells the story of two lovers as they travel through the wilds of the Scottish Landscape.

Our task was to film their classic sailing boat as it navigated its way through the dark and mysterious waters of the Scottish Loch.

The camera selected for the shoot was our ARRI ALEXA Mini, an extremely compact and super-lightweight camera, developed with the new generation of brushless gimbals and drones in mind. A highly versatile platform precisely designed for just this type of shoot.

Even though the inclement weather created a postponement of the planned early morning flights, payback came as the clouds lifted and the morning rain cleared. With mist clinging to the mountain tops, the loch met all our expectations as the setting for this dark and sinister horror movie.

Flying almost 300 meters out from the bank of the Loch, our heavy lift drone carried the ALEXA Mini with ease.

This fantastic camera captured the magnificence of the boat and the sinister mood of the Scottish Loch. As the boat sailed its way across the Loch with both elegance and style, we followed closely filming its every move.

The ALEXA Mini had once again performed flawlessly; the perfect camera in the perfect setting.

Its ability to capture excellent footage, and yet remain compact and extremely versatile is unparalleled. A true market leader for the drone industry.
