APT’s Cool Edit Pro demonstrates broadcast potential

Numerous radio stations around the world have been quick to spot the potential of APT’s new Cool Edit Pro plug-in, which was launched at this year’s NAB convention in Las Vegas.
The plug-in offers a complete solution for apt-X file format encoding, decoding and editing, and is designed to be both flexible and cost effective.
Syntrillium’s world renowned Cool Edit Pro editing software has long been standard in broadcast and post production facilities such as US radio station, WDBA, an independent FM station in Philadelphia.
Jerry Meloon, the station’s chief engineer, was among the first to download APT’s plug-in and has been using it to great effect ever since. He said: “We bought the plug-in because it was much more cost effective than buying APT ACE100 PRO and D cards, which in any case were becoming scarce. We needed a way to continue working with the format without having to purchase hardware for encoding and decoding. This plug in gave us the solution we were looking for.”
Prior to the release of the Cool Edit Pro, users of the apt-X format did not have a quick and simple method to import and edit files. This unfortunately resulted in a number of processes to produce an apt-X format cut. With the new plug-in, Cool Edit users can directly edit apt-X files without decoding or an additional encoding stage.
They can also import and export to and from the apt-X file format and all other Cool Edit supported file types, as well as achieving sample rate conversion of apt-X cuts.
