Pro Motion Supplies ARRI ALEXA Mini For Music Video

Pro Motion Hire has supplied an ARRI ALEXA Mini camera for the recent shooting of a music video by the band Solomon Grey. The video, Twilight, will be used alongside the HBO/BBC adaption of JK Rowling's 'A Casual Vacancy'.

Arthur Loveday oversaw the cinematography on the project, while the writing and directing was by Ben Marshall. The video is set in a dystopian future where people are addicted to light-emitting white cubes.

Due to its weight and size, the ARRI ALEXA Mini was selected for the production, allowing low and angled documentary-style shots and ease of movement in and around a small set. The modular features of the ALEXA Mini mean the studio camera can be stripped down of zoom and accessories and used as a handheld rig alongside a drone or gimbal.

"The concept prompted experimentation with darkness and shadows and I was keen for the film to feel sweaty, claustrophobic and dirty," explained Arthur Loveday. "The flexibility of the MINI allowed us to shoot handheld to reach this desired effect."

Arthur had worked with Pro Motion Hire on a number of previous occasions, and despite a tight turnaround of two weeks from pitch sign off to delivery, the company was able to provide the equipment in a short deadline.
