AFL’s OB facilities chosen for ‘Born To Win’

BBC1’s new prime-time Saturday evening show, ‘Born To Win’, was filmed in the picturesque resort of St Anton in the Austrian Alps and features the top 20 young British athletes pitted against each other while competing for an individually tailored bursary to help them achieve sport stardom.
The locations for the competition included a number of sites at high altitude in the mountains around St Anton and the BBC had to find suitable OB facilities that could access these locations that are inaccessible to the typical large OB trucks available. AFL Television Facilities won the contract to supply a six-camera digital unit based in two VW Caravelles that were able to reach all of the locations without any problem during the twenty-two days filming.
The Unit was equipped with six Sony Cameras along with Canon J86 lenses, seven Digital Betacam recorders, Slo-Mo, Jimmy Jib, Steadicam and numerous other facilities required to film very varied tasks that the competitors were required to take part in.
