NEP Visions Offers Media Students Expert Careers Advice

Outside broadcast services provider NEP Visions invited media students from institutions all over the country to its Student Open Day on 7 October 2015.

Over 150 media students from five colleges attended the event, getting hands-on experience in a working outside broadcast environment and receiving advice on careers in broadcasting from representatives from the BBC, BT Sport, ITV Sport Production, Sky Sports and Creative Broadcast Solutions.

Students from Southampton Solent University, Ravensbourne, Leeds Beckett, Kingston College and Farnborough College of Technology attended the event where a list of guest speakers discussed the realities of broadcasting live events, gave advice on getting into the industry, and answered a host of questions.
The speakers were:
• Darren Long, Director of Sky Production Services at Sky Sports
• James Clement, Head of Operations at Sky Sports
• Andy Beale, Chief Engineer at BT Sport
• Roger Pearce, Technical Director, Sport at ITV Sport Production
• Christopher C. Bretnall, Technical Producer at Creative Broadcast Solutions
• Peter Taylor, Production Engineering Manager, BBC Television

NEP Visions staff also shared their outside broadcasting experiences and discussed engineering career opportunities whilst demonstrating equipment and trucks.
