Pulse8 Goes From Strength To Strength
Pulse8 Media and Broadcast has a long established track record of delivering programming for UK and International producers and broadcasters. The company has broadened its offer significantly by adding no compromise, exceptional value and effective solutions for producers in need of live Outside Broadcast and live event facilities and production.
"Our business model enables us to help programme makers achieve their budgets while we provide technically robust and extremely well crewed solutions," says Pulse8's Managing Director Paul Musselle. "It's about delivering great value and technically sound results combined with a can-do attitude," he continued.
The company surveyed production managers and technical producers about their biggest gripes and frustrations and were surprised to discover that, like a lot of things in life, it was the little things that meant the most, even in the world of OBs. With that in mind, Pulse8 implemented a strategy to ensure that along with better value and great people, they take the time to ensure that the little things, like doing what you promised to do and effective, clear communication are done, rather than paid lip-service.
It's a strategy that appears to be serving them well, and producers are responding. Overwhelmingly, the company reports, the response has been one of, "Thank goodness for a new independent OB supplier who gets our needs across the board."
Production Managers and Engineering personnel from major sport, drama and light entertainment producers, Broadcasters, other OB and Event Companies have already visited Pulse8's new premises between Bedford and Milton Keynes to view the new to the UK, full length double-expanding HD02 unit.
The up to 30 camera, 6 x EVS XT3 and 4K-ready unit, has proved a real hit, with Engineers reporting great satisfaction at the specification and level of redundancy within the truck, and the production personnel revelling in the much larger than usual and incredibly spacious areas throughout the roomy Production, Engineering, VT and Audio areas.
Pulse8's Technical and Production Director Jason Shepherd commented: "We've made absolutely sure that we have state-of-the-art technologies and as importantly excellent relationships with the leading technical suppliers to ensure a comprehensive solution and one that is fully backed up. Since acquiring the Unit we've made some significant upgrades to ensure that whatever the job requirements, however complex, we can deliver, anywhere."
A bold statement, but one that is backed up by over 25 years' experience delivering for events as diverse as International football, live drama, global award shows, major music festivals and feature films. Pulse8 has a clear eye to future development of the Unit too, with full UHD and 12G throughout the truck an immediate priority.
As important as the requirement for resilient technical solutions is the ability to care as much, if not more, than the client about final delivery of their product says M.D. Paul Musselle. "I remember from a previous life, a manager used to impress upon me 'people don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care', and while we have the technical knowledge and great people, we're also driven by this maxim, largely because we really do care – not just about the final product but about the entire journey that Production Manager or Engineering Manager or Broadcaster takes with us."
That approach is underpinned with a can-do attitude within the company, and a sensible approach to client requests. "Our default setting is to say 'yes'," says Musselle, "and then we look to see if there's any real reason why we should say 'no' and the surprising thing is, most of the time we find there's no reason to say no – so guess what? We say yes most of the time."
Globecast's Gary Champion echoes these remarks. "We've completed a number of live OBs with the Pulse8 Broadcast team and each one has been a very positive experience. They know what they're doing, they get it done. We've had great feedback from our clients and Pulse8 have delivered exceptional value for us too."
With the recent opening of an office in Manchester at MediaCity UK, Pulse8 will service the highly active northern OB market. The results have been very positive and swift, with the Company having just been appointed as preferred supplier to the Manchester Central venue, who are poised to use Pulse8's OB Unit and PPU's for events over the coming 12 months.
Pulse8's business model is simple: No compromise, exceptional value, technically robust outside broadcast solutions from people who care about your final product.
