SVS Satellite Systems Combines Ka Band And 3G/4G Solution

Nowadays, broadcast and VSAT solutions are very important as a result of people wanting to be informed about news from around the world via internet access or watching TV. With the billions of people who have access to one of these sources, newsgathering should be done as uninterrupted as possible because of the rating wars and reputation on the broadcasting market.

As you know, operators need internet access for broadcasting or internet at out-of-coverage areas of 3G/4G solutions, like out of town and rural areas. Or, in some emergency cases, 3G/4G can not meet the demands of users because of overloads in the system. In this case, Ka band systems are very useful alternative solutions instead of 3G/4G.

There are two options which are dedicated internet services and shared internet services for Ka band telecommunication, like NewsSpotter and Tooway.

NewsSpotter is a dedicated system and provides fixed bandwidth which is independent from other users, but Tooway is a pool solution which changes according to usage rate in the pool. These packages provide up to 22Mbps download and 6Mbps upload speeds to users.

Modeo is a portable Electronic Newsgathering System that consists of portable devices which are connected on the V-Mount connectors of the cameras in the field, and a scalable server side software.

The concept is based on the use of multiple 3G/4G bonded networks or WiFi connections which replace the complex and heavy DSNG and DSNG infrastructures, and the costly satellite contribution links.

Performance and reliability over low data rate networks are the main hallmarks of a MODEO solution. The unit is compact, lightweight, and its rugged chassis can be deployed in minutes.

At SVS Satellite Systems, we integrated both solutions. Basically, this system includes the Ka band antenna, modem and Modeo device. In case the internet access level is high, the system uses the 3G/4G or WiFi sources via the Modeo device, which do the encoding and send contents to satellite for broadcasting or internet communication.

However, in cases of over-of-coverage areas or overloads, the system uses only an encoding module of Modeo, which is connected to a modem with ethernet cable. The contents are then sent to satellite, via the Ka band antenna. So, we provide to our customers, the uninterrupted solution with this integrated system.
