SysMedia add speech presence detection to WinCAPs

SysMedia have announced a major new advance for their highly successful WinCAPs television subtitle preparation software: automatic speech presence detection.
This virtually eliminates the time-consuming and repetitive task of manually shuttling through video to trace dialogue start and end points. It will significantly reduce the time and cost of subtitle preparation, be it for hearing-impaired viewers or for language translation.
WinCAPS speech detection automatically seeks to determine the start and end of speech events and to discriminate speech from music and other background audio noise. This greatly simplifies the task of identifying the moment at which a subtitle needs to appear on the screen in synchronisation with the speaker. The detected speech onset timings can also be used as a rapid video navigation tool enabling the subtitler to progress faster from one speech segment to the next.
