Sony DMX-R100 chosen for BBC music OB

Sony UK has announced the installation of a Sony DMX-R100 digital console into the BBC’s recently refurbished C+ Outside Broadcast vehicle.
The installation also includes the SIU-100T System Interface Unit, 6 x eight channel DMBK-S101 remote control mic preamps, a DMBKR102 8CH analogue O/P card and an SIU-RM101 Remote Control. The package was supplied by London-based pro-audio supplier HHB Communications Ltd.
The BBC C+ has been fully refurbished at BBC Radio Resources’ Kendal Avenue facility and is being used throughout the UK on a wide range of assignments, including recent Radio 1 OBs, Radio 2 big band specials, a series of Radio 3 classical recordings and Radio 4’s regular 'Any Questions'.
The 15-year-old vehicle has historically been used for small scale OBs but according to Simon Edwards, Sound Supervisor for Radio Outside Broadcasts at BBC Radio Resources, the reconfiguration from 18 channels to the Sony DMX-R100’s 48 channel complement has had a significant operational impact:
"The refurbishment of the C+ has made an already versatile vehicle incredibly flexible; meaning that we can take on much bigger music OBs while still accommodating talk and sports if needs be. The quality of sound also seems to be well suited to music and the C+ is now operationally compatible with other DMX-R100s equipped BBC facilities such as London’s Wigmore Hall."
