Trilogy announce Sentinel monitoring card & purchase by LNN

Trilogy Broadcast, providers of innovative and market leading intercom/talkback, signal monitoring and SPG equipment, have announced the introduction of a new serial digital video detector card with on-screen display as part of its Sentinel signal monitoring system.
Unique in the marketplace, the 600-20-00 card provides a graphical in-picture display of fault indications, audio phase and levels, plus advanced teletext subtitle decoding and display. Initial delivery and installation has already taken place with LNN – London News Network Ltd – where they were used for the first time in July.
LNN’s requirement was for an automated alarm system to indicate to the Transmission Engineers (TE) and Transmission Controllers (TC) that there may be a problem with the signals feeding the transmitters or satellite uplinks - but it was not to take any action, only be indicative. This requirement was born out of a contract won whereby LNN needed to supply transmission (playout) facilities for a number of ITV regions, with the number of simultaneous out-going lines increasing from eight to twenty, and with the possibility of more in the future.
The Trilogy cards will allow the major increase in LNN’s operation to be monitored by the same number of TE’s, not only making the operation very cost effective, but also negating the need to install a large amount of additional monitoring equipment.
