Hot Picks And What Not To Miss At IBC2015

The buzz at the RAI in Amsterdam is louder than ever at this year’s IBC thanks to the wealth of products delivered by the companies represented by UK distributor Aspen Media.

UK manufacturer Bel Digital, 10.A30, is launching an audio-over-IP monitor BM-A1-64DANTE, an effective way of monitoring the audio present on Dante networks in broadcast, live sound, fixed installation or recording studios.

BM-A1-64DANTE offers front panel monitor selection from 64 input channels and single channel or 16 channel mix monitoring.

German intercom and commentary system supplier DELEC, 8.C80, is introducing unito, Dante audio networking interfaces. NIO 0800, 1212 and 1624 are analogue and AES3 Dante expanders and converters while the NIO 0204 is a highly flexible and adaptive networked-audio monitoring controller and pre-amp. DIO is a Dante multi-format converter.

Again on the AoIP front, DirectOut 8.E85 is showing its MONTONE.42 MADI to Ravenna bridge which incorporates four MADI ports and a choice of fibre, coax and SFP pluggable IO modules. DirectOut is also introducing MI6 a 16 channel MADI monitor mixer that delivers 4x 16 channel monitor mixes to its integrated speakers, headphones or external loudspeakers. The eagerly anticipated DirectOut MADI.BRIDGE has now started shipping and is a welcome addition to this year’s stand.

From the USA JLCooper, 8.B92, is showing the AXOS Panner, a USB connected surround panner for Avid Pro Tools and Apple Logic Pro X. The AXOS Panner has an integrated touch-sensitive joystick and 6 rotary encoders and the controls include pan, divergence, mute, LFE, channel navigation etc.

SloMo Mini is a compact slow motion instant replay controller that gives simultaneous control of up to four hard disk recorders and is just the thing for Sports, OBs, QC and dubbing. SloMo Mini can store up to 1,000 cues – 500 In and Out points with varispeed and includes a T-Bar, optical jog wheel and transport buttons.

With future immersive and object audio formats in mind Jünger Audio, 10.A49, will be showing essential authoring and monitoring tools for those working in any of these new formats, such as Dolby Atmos or MPEG H.

Totally agnostic as far as the format and codec are concerned, these tools will generate the essential metadata in the authoring and production process for such things as 3D panning and provide decoder and set-top box processing emulation to guarantee the results heard by the viewer.
The demonstration at IBC will employ the Fraunhofer IIS MPEG H TV audio system.

Salzbrenner, 8 C80, is bringing POLARIS evolution, a highly flexible and scalable audio mixing system that combines hardware and software elements to provide users with precisely the control facilities they need, where they need them.

The POLARIS evolution system comprises three primary hardware components: the access 16-fader control surface, the view multi-purpose touch screen and the scala DSP frame.

Additionally on stand 8.C80, Stagetec will show its enhanced mixing consoles; AURUS Platinum and CRESCENDO Platinum together with the ON AIR flex that utilises the new NEXUS XACI an all-round control interface for NEXUS.
