New Dramas Commissioned For E4

Two new dramas have been confirmed for E4.

Rush Hour (13 x 60') is a re-imagining of the feature film franchise, and is described as an action-packed buddy-cop drama about a maverick LAPD detective (Justin Hires) and a by-the-book detective from Hong Kong (Jon Foo) who are forced to work together.

Detective Lee (Foo) travels to Los Angeles to investigate the theft of Chinese artefacts, when he's paired with the irreverent Detective Carter (Hires), a young cop who prefers to work alone. They experience culture clashes and flared tempers, but also prove that unlikely pairing can make the best partnership.

In addition to Hires and Foo, Rush Hour stars Jessika Van (The Messengers), Aimee Garcia (Dexter), Page Kennedy (Backstrom) and Wendie Malick (Hot in Cleveland, Just Shoot Me!).

The executive producers are Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Cougar Town), Blake McCormick (Cougar Town, King of the Hill), Steve Franks (Psych), Jeff Ingold (Undateable) and the team behind the Rush Hour movies, Arthur Sarkissian and Brett Ratner.

The series is produced by Doozer in association with Warner Bros. Television and is based on the New Line Cinema feature film franchise of the same name.

The second drama, Containment (13 x 60') is based on the original Belgian series Cordon, created by Carl Joos for Eyeworks. It looks at what happens when a mysterious – and deadly – epidemic breaks out in Atlanta. Quarantine is quickly enforced, and those stuck on the inside have to fight for their lives while local and federal officials search for a cure. Trying to keep the peace on the streets is police officer Lex Carnahan (David Gysai, Interstellar), but his job becomes even harder when he learns that his longtime girlfriend, Jana (Christina Moses, Starship: Apocalypse), and his best friend and fellow officer Jake (Chris Wood, The Vampire Diaries), are trapped within the cordoned area.

Containment also stars Kristen Gutoskie (Beaver Falls), Claudia Black (The Originals), George Young (Casualty), Hanna Mangan Lawrence (Spartacus: War of the Damned) and Trevor St. John (One Life to Live).

Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries, The Originals) and David Nutter (The Flash, Arrow) are executive producers of the series, which is produced by My So-Called Company in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Both Rush Hour and Containment are due to air on E4 in 2016.
