ITV Announces New Election Debate Show

News Image
ITV has commissioned a new series called 'O'Brien', debating Britain's top political issues in the run up to this year's General Election.

Presented by journalist and radio broadcaster James O'Brien, the 10 x 60 mins series will focus on two major political topics per episode. The two-week run will begin on March 30. A panel consisting of political figures, journalists, celebrities and campaigners plus a member of the public will be selected for each show to join the debate.

Radio broadcaster and journalist James O'Brien said: "I hate the way politicians have started banging on about 'ordinary people' recently. There's no such thing. Everyone's extraordinary in their own way, with extraordinary stories to tell and passionate opinions informed by their experiences and what's in the news. I can't wait to start listening to them."

Executive Producer for ITV Studios, Tom McLennan, added: "Debate shows have too often been directed towards those who are already politically engaged. The series will provide a platform to discuss the topics that really matter to viewers at home."
