Cardiff Screen Festival details revealed

Sgrîn Cymru Wales, the new organisers of the Cardiff Screen Festival (previously known as the International Film Festival of Wales) have outlined the most recent developments in the planning stages for the 15th Festival, to take place in Cardiff between November 14-22 2003.
Sarah Howells, the Festival Manager, has been working with industry specialists across film, television and new media to ensure that a varied and challenging programme is available to the domestic and growing international audience expected in Cardiff later this year.
She said: “The main elements of a strong programme are now in place. Making sure that we can marry the needs of the industry with the expectations of a national public event has been a challenge. The audiences at Chapter, one of the principal venues together with the UGC, have already been taking part in the programming process by choosing the six films to be shown as part of the Almodovar Retrospective.
“One of the major highlight of the 2003 event will be the DM Davies Award, the largest short film prize in Europe. The standard of entries has again been excellent. The winner joining previous winners Sara Sugarman (Mad Cows) and Justin Kerrigan (Human Traffic) will have a lot to live up to."
The festival website, cardiffscreenfestival.co.uk, will go live at the end of September, and will feature the main Festival themes. The detailed programme of films, special events and industry days, including the popular Focus on Interactive, Focus on Film and Exhibition and the new Focus on TV, will be announced on October 20.
Tickets will go on sale to the public and industry delegates on November 1.
