Omneon set to reveal Network Content Server
Omneon Video Works have chosen NAB 2002 to introduce its new server.
The benefits of the company's Networked Content Server will be demonstrated in Omneon's South Hall at booth L20402.
The Networked Content Server is a cost-effective, scalable, data-independent, storage solution supporting third-party software applications for control, transmission, media management, archive and collaborative production. Using open standards, it enables facilities to ingest, store, share and distribute digital media.
The newest Networked Content Server product is a file-server platform with a higher level of performance over Gigabit Ethernet to maximise transport of video over high-speed IP networks. It is hoped that the server will engage more clients in collaborative production requirements for applications serving central-casting, automation, on-air play-out, fault-tolerant redundancy, programme-delay and editing.
Maximum channel density has been leveraged through additional interface ports to greatly increase capacity. Utilising the extended file system, multiple director servers can share a common file system providing simultaneous access by all users.
The demonstration of the extended file system will also show configurations that provide highly fault tolerant systems for redundancy, with no single point of failure.
In addition, Omneon Video Works' Networked Content Servers will be located in their partners' booths throughout the show floor.
Omneon Video Works was founded in May of 1998, and provides video networking and storage for companies that produce and distribute both traditional and new media from streaming video, to digital television, HDTV and beyond.
In past NAB conferences, Omneon Video Works have won the Broadcast Engineering's 'NAB 2000 Pick Hit Award' and Videography's 'NAB 2000 Editor's Choice Award'.
