ChyronHego Powers Time Warner's 4K Broadcasts

ChyronHego's Mosaic XL and Lyric PRO graphics solutions have been chosen by Time Warner Cable Sports and IMS Productions for two tests of UHDTV broadcasting in 4K in the US.

The first project was the broadcast of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) high school Division I football championship game on 19 December at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Then, the test was followed on 23 December with a 4K broadcast of the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors basketball game from the STAPLES Center. While the 4K broadcasts were closed tests, both games were also produced and televised in high-definition on Time Warner Cable SportsNet.

For creation and playout of game graphics, IMS Productions used a customised, single-channel version of the Mosaic XL graphics platform, running ChyronHego's Lyric PRO graphics creation software. Both games were captured on Sony F55s, while replays were provided by four Evertz DreamCatcher replay systems and signal routing/switching provided by Evertz and Sony equipment. IMS supplied the production truck and systems integration.
