RTS Opens Young Technologist Award 2014
Entries are now open for the RTS Young Technologist Award 2014.
The aim of the award is to advance education in the science, practice, technology and art of television and its allied fields.
The winner will receive a trip to the IBC Conference in Amsterdam in September, plus free entry to the RTS London Conference 2014: 'Power, Politics and the Media'.
The award is open to early career engineers in the broadcast or related industries and judges will look for applicants who can demonstrate how the award would enhance their understanding of technology's role in television and its allied fields, and how they will share their understanding.
Chair of the RTS Young Technologist Award jury, Terry Marsh, said: "Television is thriving on new technologies and up and coming bright technologists are vital to the future of the industry. The RTS Young Technologist Award aims to recognising potential leaders and I am very much looking forward to seeing this year's applications."
The winner of last year's Award was Daniel Cherowbrier, Business Manager, Arqiva, who won due to the combination of his technical know-how, drive and management skills as well as his entrepreneurial talents.
To apply for the RTS Young Technologist Award 2014, applicants can download a form here and should submit it electronically by 5pm on 16 June 2014. There is no age limit for entrants but applicants must be in the early stage of their career. The judge's decision is final.
The Young Technologist Award was established by the RTS with funds received from the family of A.M. Beresford-Cooke, a distinguished engineer who contributed much to the development of British broadcasting technology through his work on towers and masts for VHF and UHF transmission.
