Leader cast a mobile light on lighting

Leader's LV-5700 waveform monitor, now available in Europe, forms the basis of an entirely new tool for HD and standard-definition programme-makers with the option of mobile access via wireless Internet.
Occupying a compact 215 x 133 x 448 mm (WHD), the LV-5700 provides video and audio waveform display functions, plus vectorscope, eye pattern and picture monitoring on a high resolution (1024 x 768 pixel XGA) TFT colour LCD screen.
Using Leader's new FS-3018 Lighting Monitor enables a lighting director to interrogate the LV-5700 via a wireless PDA, viewing captured picture, waveform, colour vectors and status data. Any spot on the picture can be selected via the PDA's cursor controls for numeric analysis of percentage YRGB colour component levels. Additional controls select picture mode, zoom (X1, X2, X3, X4, X8) and image refresh. Additional settings provide access to setup menus, help routines and browser settings.
Paul Vos, managing director of Leader's European Master Distributor, elQuip, said: "The LV-5700 is equipped to handle 15 HD-SDI video formats and both SD-SDI systems plus optionally even analogue NTSC/PAL signals. It is an exceptionally useful instrument in the studio gallery or MCR, let alone in the lighting director's pocket. With this degree of flexibility, the LV-5700 and its PDA-based remote-access option provide a level of power which few lighting directors will ever have dreamt of. Both units have won awards at recent major trade exhibitions and should assist creative programme-makers to win awards of their own."
