Trio video trust Calrec for move into digital audio

Chicago-based Trio Video has put their trust in Calrec to come up with the goods for their move into digital audio.
To help them in their quest, Trio has ordered a 48-fader, 88-channel Alpha 100 digital console, which is capable of accommodating 64 stereo and 24 mono channels, for their newest HD-ready remote unit, due to be installed this autumn.
Carl Roszczybiuk, Trio's Director of Engineering, said recently: "We decided on the Alpha because of its architecture and ease of operation.
“We will be transitioning operators from analogue desks and the Alpha has a certain familiarity and the feel of an analogue desk. We think first time users will feel comfortable when using the Alpha. We don't want to scare them off.”
Audio Engineer Paul Culler added: "It is time to move forward and we feel that digital consoles are now much more reliable and solid in their performance.
“While most mixers would still be happy with Calrec’s Q2's and S2's, digital consoles will be a big help in doing 5.1 audio.”
One of Trio’s Owner/Managers, Jack Walsh said: “Calrec was great in helping us devise a plan to get the most console we could fit into our budget while allowing room for future expansion of the console as our needs grow.
“The flexibility of wiring the console in a larger configuration than we currently need and adding fader modules later is a big advantage. We have had great success with the S2 console and look to the Alpha to broaden our appeal to our clients".
