Fountain Studios choose Drake Electronics’ Talkback System

Drake Electronics, Europe’s leading broadcast intercom supplier, has won an order for a 4000 series II Master Matrix intercom system.
The 4000 Master Matrix will replace an existing Drake 3000 Matrix and form the central hub of all the production communications within the Fountain Studios complex.
The largest and most expandable system frame, the Master Matrix provides up to 256 ports in a single 9RU frame and is capable of networking potentially up to 3000 users. The Matrix is ideal for all broadcast applications. Using a range of ‘hot-pluggable’ interface cards, the Master Matrix supports direct connection to the frame without the need for expensive additional patch panels and can incorporate the latest mobile, wireless intercom technology ‘FreeSpeak’ with the additional of a cell controller card.
Craig Church, Technical Manager at Fountain Studios said: “Our existing Drake 3000 Matrix has proved very reliable and versatile over the last ten years, but as part of our continuous program of improvements to the studios an upgrade to the 4000 Matrix was a logical step.
“The 4000 Matrix maintains all of the features of the 3000 but with many interesting new additions, particularly the option of the FreeSpeak digital wireless Intercom system.”
Drake Electronics is the European market leader in the development of high performance broadcast intercom solutions. Based in Cambridge UK, Drake have over 25 year’s experience with over 2,000 systems installed worldwide.
Drake is part of the Vitec Group plc, a multinational company listed on the London Stock Exchange which also includes Vinten and Anton Bauer among its operating companies.
Fountain Television is the UK’s largest independent television studio facility and provides services to the main broadcast networks, as well as international clients and independent producers.
