EIFF to offer film guide, showcase and Videotheque
The Edinburgh International Film Festival is again set to be a networking focus for the national and international filmmaking communities and offers the annual Guide to British Film and the Film UK section of its Videotheque as special services to the industry.
The organisers of the Film UK Guide to British Film 2003 published in association with the British Council, which is in the process of being compiled, is currently open for submissions for inclusion.
If your film is British, fiction and was produced professionally since the last edition of the Guide, it will be included in this year's edition at no cost. During the Festival, the Videotheque provides a viewing service to accredited industry delegates from all areas of the industry and is a valuable talent spotting resource.
The Industry Office, run by Mary Davies, will open throughout the Festival with the twin aims of bringing together those who have product and projects and those who are seeking product and talent.
The Guide, which aims to list all British fiction feature and short films produced during the last year is distributed to over 5,000 industry professionals worldwide and is given to all delegates attending the Edinburgh International Film Festival. The Guide is also available as a downloadable PDF from the Festival website, www.edfilmfest.org.uk/filmuk and 8,000 guides from 2002 have already been downloaded.
During the Festival, VHS cassettes of films either listed in the Film UK Guide or shown in the Festival are made available for viewing in individual booths, with priority given to buyers, i.e. distributors, sales agents, TV buyers and festival selectors. By showcasing films from the Film UK Guide, the Videotheque offers industry professionals unique access to recent British films which they might otherwise miss.
Filmmakers are notified after the Festival who has seen their films in the Videotheque.
To make use of this service and be a part of the Guide and the Videotheque, download a PDF form from www.filmuk.org.uk, and send it in complete with publicity materials and VHS cassettes by 26 June 2003.
Coming to the Festival as a delegate with or without a film will allow you to take advantage of the Festival's range of industry services, including events and panels, networking facilitation and industry screenings.
