Riedel intercom chosen for BT International Media Centre

A Riedel Artist M Intercom system has been chosen as part of a major refurbishment of the BT International Media Centre based at the Telecom Tower in London.
The prestigious new media centre which routes and monitors broadcast TV signals on a global scale, incorporates a Riedel Intercom, the first true broadcast style 'talk back' system to be used at the centre. The system comprises a Riedel Artist M 128 x 128 matrix with 76 control panels, the facility to handle up to 48 external 4-wire circuits, and a total of 32 GPIs and 32 GPOs. With redundant controllers and power supplies, the equipment was supplied by exclusive UK/Ireland distributors Mi Broadcast, and installed by Megahertz Broadcast Systems Ltd., prime integrators for the contract, and who also provided consultancy services to BT Broadcast.
Successful use by mainstream broadcasters, flexibility, advanced technical features, and broadcast (AES) audio quality throughout, made Riedel the product of choice for BT. The system gives operators individual cross point level control for each key, unique programmable 8 character LED in-key displays, as well as comprehensive control and programming capability via its Ethernet connectivity for integration with PC networks. Also considered important was Riedel’s CAT5 or 75 ohm coax interface for control panels, which helped simplify wiring installation, plus the small package size and value offered, the 128x128 system occupies just 5U.
Other Riedel Artist M features include a dual redundant optical fibre interface between nodes, all-digital (AES audio) connection of control panels to the matrix, and full expandability up to 1024x1024 matrix sizes.
