Thomson wireless cable modem recognised at Mediacast

A new integrated wireless cable modem gateway from Thomson was named the runner up in the Best Data Over Cable Technology Awards announced at Mediacast.
This new all-in-one solution, the TCW690, available in July 2003, supports both EuroDOCSIS 2.0 and the WiFi 802.11g standard at speeds up to 54Mb/s. It is also 802.11b compatible.
Thomson have also announced their TCM315 recently received DOCSIS 2.0 certification while DCW615 was awarded both DOCSIS1.1 and CableHome certifications. Both the TCM315 and DCW615 are currently available.

The TCW690 provides secure Internet connections through both NAT and firewall and supports BPI+ communications privacy for secure data exchange between the modem and a cable operator’s server. The gateway features both Ethernet and USB connectivity and is a simple networking solution for both wired and wireless environments. It supports encryption of data between the gateway and the wireless connected computer and an Internet security button puts the modem into stand-by mode, offering the user additional security against outside hackers.
In addition the TCW690 works on any DOCSIS or Euro-DOCSIS-based HFC cable system
