Thomson announce major order from Media Mobil

Thomson have announced that Media Mobil GmbH (MMG) in Leipzig have placed a multi-million Euro order for a new digital outside broadcast truck with Grass Valley brand broadcast equipment .
The new truck, to be designed and built by Thomson's Systems Group, will be used on outside broadcast productions mainly for the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR).
This new truck, a type L, includes eight Grass Valley LDK 200 cameras, a Grass Valley XtenDD vision mixer, a Grass Valley Trinix digital video router, the Andromeda logical signal processing system, and multiple new Grass Valley Under Monitor Displays (UMDs). The truck will be delivered at the end of this year and will be used mainly to cover entertainment shows such as the Folk Music Festivals and the Riverboat Talkshow as well as sporting events and other live productions such as the regional elections in Germany.
Measuring 12 metres long by 2.50 metres wide and 3.90 metres high, with expandable sidewall, the new truck will house four operational areas - an audio control room, a large production area, a post production area, and a camera control room. The majority of the Grass Valley equipment will be located in the large production area.
"Over the last few years we have worked very closely and successfully on several projects with the Grass Valley Systems Group and have had extremely good experience using the OB-vans designed and produced by them for the production of all genres of the MDR," said Reinhard Sasse, general manager of Media Mobil GmbH. "Given the enormous support and the high level of service and expertise previously received from Thomson's Systems Group, we were very keen on this occasion to place this truck order with them."
