New Thomson And Grass Valley HD Technology On Display At BIRTV 2008

Thomson, a leading provider of video solutions, will show an extensive lineup of Thomson and Grass Valley products at the upcoming 2008 Beijing Radio, TV and Film Equipment (BIRTV) exhibition and conference.
The convention will be held at the China International Exhibition Centre (CIEC) in Beijing, November 5-8.
Thomson will host live demonstrations of its high-definition (HD) technology, targeting several key areas of professional production, post-production and cable/telco/satellite distribution technologies.
These systems support a variety of HD and multi-platform workflows and infrastructures while enabling cost-effective deployment with a focus on fast return on investment.
During BIRTV, Thomson will also exhibit a range video networking solutions including its award-winning range of ViBE encoders which enable maximum compression and picture quality for SD and HD video over any network. Also on display will be the Thomson SmartVision video service platform with personalised TV and targeted advertising features as well as the SmartVision video-on-demand (VOD) server for revenue driving push and pull VOD over any network. In addition, Thomson will highlight its digital transmitters for mobile TV as well as its ContentShare2 system for content security.
The "Full HD" acquisition area of the exhibit booth will include the Grass Valley LDK 8300 Super Slo-Mo camera and the multi-format Infinity Digital Media Camcorder with the Cine-style option, enabling the camcorder to shoot in high-definition (HD) progressive formats in a variety of frame rates.
Playout systems on hand will include the powerful Grass Valley Maestro branding and master control system which provides the most effective, flexible and reliable way to deliver and identify TV channels.
Also present will be the world's most popular broadcast router, the high performance, 3 Gbps-capable Trinix NXT. In addition to the Trinix NXT will be the ultra-flexible Concerto Series video routing switcher and the ultra-compact Acappella audio router.
Multi-format HD production tools on display will include the Grass Valley Kayak HD 3M/E video production switcher and the new K2 Summit production client which includes HD/SD operation, smooth slow-motion playback and up to four bi-directional channels in a ruggedized two RU chassis, making it ideal for regional mobile production vehicles, stadiums and arenas or in university sports facilities.
The post production area will feature daily demonstrations of the latest version (v5) of the Grass Valley EDIUS multiformat nonlinear editing software, allowing professionals to mix high-definition and standard-definition (SD) formats on the same timeline in realtime.
For those professionals working in SD formats, Thomson will show a full range of solutions as well. This includes the Grass Valley LDK 400 and the Indigo AV Mixer combined with the Turbo iDDR (Intelligent Digital Disk Recorder). Indigo can be upgraded in the field to HD, while Turbo is capable of handling HDV-style HD media.
