IABM nominates CBA for Tom McGann Training Bursary

The International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers (IABM) has nominated the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA) as the recipient of the 2002 Tom McGann Training Bursary.
The announcement was made by IABM chairman Martin Salter at the CBA Awards Dinner held in Manchester, United Kingdom, on May 1. Now in its second year, the bursary will be presented to the CBA at the IABM awards reception to be held on the September 14 at IBC 2002 in Amsterdam.
First presented at IBC 2001, the bursary provides financial assistance of twenty thousand pounds sterling and is awarded annually with the selection of candidates, young engineers who would otherwise be unable to benefit from such formal training, made by internationally recognised organisations.
Recipients in the first year were three Asian broadcast engineers whose training programme was identified and established by the
Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union.
The bursary recognises a life-long and significant contribution made to the international broadcasting community by Tom McGann, a former chairman of the IABM.
