BBC Worldwide appoints Director, News and Current Affairs

BBC Worldwide have appointed Mark Reynolds to the new position of Director, News & Current Affairs, with effect from May 1.
Reporting to BBC Worldwide’s Director of International Television, Mike Phillips, Reyolds has been tasked to maximise business opportunities by developing BBC Worldwide's relationship with the BBC Current Affairs Group. He will also work closely with BBC News; the BBC Commercial Agency and BBC Worldwide’s regional sales teams to identify and pursue new opportunities, and to raise the profile of News and Current Affairs output within the company.
Reynolds joins from BBC Worldwide Americas, where he was Vice-President, Co-productions and Sales for factual programming. Prior to joining the New York-based BBC Sales Company in 1998, he held a number of marketing and business development roles within BBC Worldwide. Working closely with the BBC Natural History Unit, he was responsible for raising co-production finance for a number of major landmark series including: The Blue Planet, Life in the Freezer, The Life of Birds and the BBC Wildlife Specials. Mark also played a key role in setting up BBC Worldwide’s ground-breaking joint venture with Discovery Communications Incorporated.
Mike Phillips said: “Mark’s track record during his time in the Commercial Agency and his more recent experience in the US market, working across the F&L output, make him the ideal candidate to develop our News & Current Affairs business.”
